The album was recorded in a week during the Glasgow Jazz Festival, enlisting the services of some of the jazz musicians visiting the city. First came JazzNotJazz, an album that mixed jazz with non-jazz sounds. In 1996 Hue and Cry signed to the Scottish jazz and classical record label, Linn Records, for an intended trilogy of albums. Pat Kane continued to work with Niles sporadically on live concerts for BBC Radio 2 with the BBC Big Band. This produced the album Showtime! and the single "Just Say You Love Me". Hue and Cry had a brief chart revival in 1993 with the release of the Circa compilation album Labours of Love – The Best of Hue and Cry, which included a Joey Negro remix of "Labour of Love".ġ994 saw a collaboration with jazz arranger and composer, Richard Niles. Truth and Love (1992) was released on the brothers' own short-lived label, Fidelity. Their 1991 album Stars Crash Down embraced folk, country, Latin and quartet jazz. In the 1990s, the brothers embarked upon a period of musical experimentation. Other hits included "Looking for Linda" and "Violently (Your Words Hit Me)" – both from their second album Remote. Their second single and biggest hit was " Labour of Love" from the debut album Seduced and Abandoned. Their debut single for Circa was "I Refuse". While not a hit, it attracted the interest of Virgin Records' subsidiary Circa who signed the duo in 1986. Their first single "Here Comes Everybody" was released on a small Glasgow-based independent label, Stampede, in 1986. The duo are best known for their 1987 single " Labour of Love". In the 90s, the band – Coatbridge-born brothers Pat and Gregory Kane – turned their backs on pop and allowed their music to take what they call an “experimental turn”, slipping in and out of a multitude of styles, including drum ‘n’ bass, afro-beat and R&B.įamed for their sibling squabbles, they disbanded in the late 90s before reforming in 2005. Their soulful sound won them an army of fans and saw them support acts including Madonna, James Brown and Van Morrison – while famously turning down the chance to go on a worldwide tour with Eurythmics and even support Frank Sinatra. With this functionality, a user may synchronize their own calendar to a CalDAV server, and share it among multiple devices or with other users. Parsing the iCalendar items is necessary, because the server has to support a number of calendaring-specific operations such as doing free-busy time reports and expansion of recurring events. The calendar resources must use iCalendar format, which allows the server to understand and process the data. Therefore, the specification requires that CalDAV servers must support "WebDAV Access Control Protocol" (RFC 3744). The resources and collections can be accessed by one or more users, using standard HTTP and DAV semantics to detect conflicting changes, or to provide locking.įor access control the concept of ACLs are used, so each operation (view, edit, delete etc.) can be denied or granted per user. The architecture of CalDAV (partially inherited from the underlying specifications) organizes the data (events, tasks, free-busy info, notes) in directories (collections), where multiple items (resources) reside. It is developed as an open standard to foster interoperability between software from different vendors. CalDAV is designed for implementation by any collaborative software, client or server, that needs to maintain, access or share collections of events. In March 2007, the CalDAV specification was finished and published by the IETF as RFC 4791, authored by Cyrus Daboo ( Apple), Bernard Desruissaux ( Oracle), and Lisa Dusseault ( CommerceNet). The CalDAV specification was first published in 2003 as an Internet Draft submitted to the Internet Engineering Task Force ( IETF) by Lisa Dusseault. The protocol is used by many important open-source applications. Extensions to CalDAV for scheduling are standardized as RFC 6638. The access protocol is defined by RFC 4791. It extends the WebDAV ( HTTP-based protocol for data manipulation) specification and uses the iCalendar format for the calendar data. It lets multiple users in different locations share, search and synchronize calendar data.

Indicating that you can enjoy Kit Kat whenever and wherever you are. In addition, the ad is simple and to the point. This is reinforced by the inclusion of the single Kit Kat bar in the center. Even from a distance, it is clearly a Kit Kat advertisement. Which is so iconic it is instantly recognizable. The color scheme of the ad evokes the classic Kit Kat red packaging. The ad suggests that nothing should hold you back from taking these breaks and enjoying Kit Kats. The takeaway message here is that Kit Kat can be enjoyed as a quick break snack, even when you’re at home working for your company remotely. It also shows they are on top of current trends (working from home) and are looking to attract the new remote workforce on their terms. This ad shows that Kit Kat’s marketing keeps up with the times and seeks to make the best of a bad situation. The ad speaks to these people by reminding them that they shouldn’t neglect breaks because they aren’t in a traditional office space. The target audience in this ad is clearly remote home-based workers (the ad shows “Home Office” in the text). In addition, it serves as a reminder that, while you may be working from home during these troubling times, there’s no reason not to take small breaks throughout the day. The ad is effective because it ties into the current issues (COVID 19 and the common need to work from home due to public safety). No matter where you are currently working from. It serves as a reminder that Kit Kat is still available as a break-time snack. Which has grown exponentially since the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic. The ad’s strategy looks to target the new home-based workforce. This is reinforced by using the classic “Have a break” tagline under the logo on the bottom. Implying that workers need to take breaks and have snacks to stay productive, even working from home. Using the single Kit Kat bar as a strikethrough on the Office portion of the term “Home Office”. Which has forced many people into working remotely from home. The ad is designed to capitalize on the COVID 19 pandemic. Kit Kat’s current ad continues with its “Have a break” motif, with a twist. Thus causing the European Court of Justice to send the case back to the British courts after a ten-year legal struggle that rival Mars disputed. The importance of this tagline was apparent when Nestlé attempted to trademark the “Have a break” portion in 1995. The break portion of the tagline is a play on the fact that Kit Kats are designed to be broken off individually before eating. “Have a break…have a Kit Kat” has been Kit Kat’s slogan in the UK and worldwide since 1957. As well as in 1969, the first color television commercial was broadcast. With the slogan “what active people need.” In 1951, the first Kit Kat poster was released. Kit Kat was marketed as a helpful wartime snack during WWII. When they were first introduced in the 1930s. This chocolate candy was first touted as “the biggest little meal” and “the perfect companion to a cup of tea”. Kit Kats come in a variety of flavors, including milk, white, and dark chocolate. Each finger on the bar can be broken off individually. Each of which is made up of three layers of wafer separated by a chocolate layer. The standard bar comprises two or four pieces. The only exception is in the United States, where it is produced under license by the Hershey Company’s H. Rowntree’s of York, United Kingdom, invented the Kit Kat, a chocolate-covered wafer bar confection currently produced worldwide by Nestlé (who acquired Rowntree’s in 1988). The ad is designed to capitalize on the trend of working from home due to the COVID 19 pandemic and suggests that Kit Kat is the perfect break-time snack for remote workers. The ad features the words “Home Office” in white font against a red background (matching the color scheme of their branding), with a single Kit Kat bar blocking the word Office as if it were a strikethrough. The Kit Kat ad, “Home Office” is a brilliant usage of current events to promote their product. This article will revisit some of the best turn-based games from the 90s. Additionally, using the stronger SHA-256 algorithm provides eliminates dependencies on the vulnerable SHA1 algorithm. It does so by addressing the two key elements which make mysql_native_password vulnerable: hash computation becomes more expensive/time-consuming, and the output is randomized. The sha256_password plugin was introduced in MySQL Server 5.6, and provides additional security focused on password storage. While this algorithm was considered secure back in the days of MySQL 4.1, it now has known weaknesses that may be exploitable within several years. In all versions of MySQL Server since version 5.5, the default password mechanism is implemented in the mysql_native_password authentication plugin (which is enabled by default). The addition of numbers makes it that much harder to guess. Therefore, our first action should be to change it to something less intuitive, like "secure_admin_99". It is common knowledge that the "root" account is the super user. We'll cover each of these tabs in greater detail in the next installment, but for now, let's see how we could change some data on the General tab to secure the root account. It, in turn, contains five tabs named General, Advanced, Server Privileges, Privileges, and SQL Preview. You can use it to check the server's configuration and current status, to create and drop databases, and more. MySQL ships with the mysqladmin command-line client for performing administrative operations. Coordinating how users in your organization access your database typically entails many separate tasks, from adding new users, blocking access to users who have left the organization, and helping users who cannot log in.
